Gift to be cherished

Before I go about narrating the incident that touched my heart, here is my shout out to Chennai, its enthusiastic youth and all the volunteers who have taken the spirit of the city to a new level. I am having goosebumps as I am typing this. I hope to not hear those first hand experiences from friends and family anymore.

Thanks to all who have inquired about my parents and in-laws. They have moved back to our native place few years ago so was spared from this natural calamity. How we fool our self by trying to play smart with nature. Nature is the boss and she plays very hard. Period. Hope everyone realizes it sooner or later and treats mother nature with respect and care.

Getting back to the incident. Some incidents in life are worth that extra hour of being awake to record it in this blog. They should not be left untold.

During thanksgiving long weekend, we visited my friend’s house and stayed there for two days. While bring there, we visited nearby mall with my friend K and his wife P. We were at Macy’s and as our better half’s were not around, we roamed around women’s section for a while which is very unusual for me. I don’t have the luxury of window shopping or gazing around women’s accessories section for more than 1.23 minutes. Why 1.23? Oh that’s the time it takes to whiz past the section. Is it not?

So, yes we were roaming around looking at watches and earrings. P helped me to choose two beautiful earrings and we billed it before the men arrived. Later, due to some confusions I had to return the earrings and we returned home reluctantly as it was well past 11pm.

Today there was a surprise mail at my mailbox. You would have guessed it by now. It had those two earrings sent by Santa.

Did you also guess who was my Santa? It was P, my friend’s wife who has become my friend now. I am glad to have found a like minded friend with whom I can discuss about everything. We catch up over phone whenever time permits. And I am very much touched with her thoughtfulness. She doesn’t have to do this for me. It has been a very long time since I got a surprise gift, for that matter even a meaningful gift. I definitely count my blessings and thank you for being so nice to me. May God bless you with the best of everything in this life and may our friendship grow stronger day by day. It is these small acts of love and sharing that still holds this world a better place to live.

I will cherish this gift for the rest of my life. Thank you P and I dedicate this post to you ma!
